A Few Memes for Your Monday Morning
I enjoy internet memes—especially the funny ones.
The kind that don’t explain themselves, don’t lecture, and don’t beg for applause.
At some point it occurred to me that I already use images in my writing the same way meme creators do—particularly the opening image or thumbnail. It’s not decoration; it’s the joke before the joke. The visual sets the frame, and the words just wander in afterward.
So today I tried making a few, purely for fun.
The White House–Trump–penguin meme was irresistible. And I’m convinced they knew exactly what they were doing. I won’t dissect the humor—nothing kills a joke faster—but it was obvious they anticipated the inevitable response: a parade of left-wing scolds triumphantly announcing that penguins don’t live in Greenland.
At which point… they became the punchline.
I never knew Audubon Society energy could be so unintentionally hilarious.
So I gathered a handful of those memes and shared them here. As a bonus, I added a few of my own at the end—what I can only describe as meta-memes™. These aren’t just jokes; they’re jokes about the jokes, and about the reflexive, joyless reactions they triggered.
That’s more than enough explanation.
Here they are.
This one started it. From the White House.
Here is n an example of a typical internet scold.
Above you will find a militarized meme.
More meme variations.
And finally, my two contributions.
