I have always felt Memorial Day is our most important holiday as Americans, for without the ultimate sacrifice of our fallen, we could celebrate no other.
As for me and my house, this day is never about backyards and BBQ, but coming together and remembering those who made such things possible.
I'm an entertainer and songwriter - my entire professional life has been a joyous pursuit of a dream and hoping to make my audience feel better than they did when they walked in, not dodging bullets, showing papers, or hoping there's enough food for my children. That is ONLY and ALWAYS because others who undoubtedly had their own hopes and dreams, fought and died to provide me the freedom to chase mine.
