Bob’s Retort: Blumenthal, The Guardian, and the Hoax That Never Dies
By Jim Reynolds | www.reynolds.com
Who is Sidney Blumenthal?
Sidney Blumenthal is the Clintons’ favorite hatchet man — a lifelong political hit-artist whose only craft is narrative assassination. He has spent decades smearing Republicans, laundering gossip into “analysis,” and feeding talking points to friendly outlets. If you’re wondering why trust in media has cratered, look no further than Sid: the man who never met a lie too dirty to pass along.
What is The Guardian?
The Guardian is the global clubhouse for left-wing groupthink: reflexively anti-conservative, reflexively anti-Trump, and reflexively allergic to truth when it contradicts their priors. They don’t report — they frame, sneer, and spin. For Guardian readers, “Trump bad” is the headline, the middle, and the conclusion.
What Were They Reporting?
Blumenthal’s piece — “There is no ‘Trump doctrine’ in foreign policy. Just chaos” — claimed to analyze Trump’s recent summit with Putin in Alaska. Instead, it was 3,000 words of sneers, mind-reading, and cartoonish imagery. Trump “melted.” He “fled.” He “dreamed of prizes.” Blumenthal even trotted out Trump Tower Moscow like a relic from 2016 — as if it still proves something. It was not analysis; it was propaganda for the hopelessly afflicted by Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).
Why Are We Writing This Retort?
Because this is the playbook of the TDS media. And it needs to be called out — line by dishonest line.
🎭 Bob’s Highlight Reel Takedown
The summit was nothing short of a theater of the absurd.
BOB: STEP ONE — FRAME THE STORY AS ABSURD BEFORE PRESENTING A SINGLE FACT. GUARDIAN TRANSLATION: “TRUMP BAD, DETAILS TO FOLLOW.”
Trump had just handed over his cards to Putin.
BOB: BASELESS. NO EVIDENCE, NO CARDS, NO DEALS — JUST EMPTY WORDS. CALL IT A HANDOVER, HOPE THE READER DOESN’T NOTICE THERE’S NO EXAMPLE.
Trump was indefinite and imprecise.
BOB: EVER HEARD OF STRATEGIC AMBIGUITY? NEGOTIATORS USE IT TO GAIN LEVERAGE. GUARDIAN THINKS THEY’RE BETTER AT DEALMAKING THAN THE GUY WHO REWROTE THE BOOK ON IT.
Trump dreams of receiving the Nobel peace prize.
BOB: PURE MIND-READING. YOU INVENT A MOTIVE, THEN MOCK HIM FOR IT. IT’S NOT REPORTING — IT’S PSYCHIC FANFICTION.
In Alaska, Trump melted again in the presence of Putin.
BOB: “MELTED”? MILLIONS WATCHED, SAW NOTHING OF THE SORT. IF YOU DIDN’T SEE IT, MAKE IT UP. THAT’S BLUMENTHAL’S RULE.
Steve Witkoff, a New York real estate operator…
BOB: SMEAR 101. REDUCE HIM TO A JOB TITLE, IGNORE HIS TRACK RECORD. THIS IS HOW THE LEFT DISMISSES PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY GET DEALS DONE.
An elated Putin and dejected Trump appeared on stage together.
BOB: MIND-READING AGAIN. PUTIN’S EMOTIONS? TRUMP’S MOOD? ALL THROUGH BLUMENTHAL’S CRYSTAL BALL.
Trump wistfully talked about doing business with Russia… even through the 2016 election.
BOB: AND THERE IT IS — THE OLD SMEAR. DUST OFF TRUMP TOWER MOSCOW AND HOPE THE READER FORGETS THAT THE REAL STORY WAS THE RUSSIA HOAX. THE GUARDIAN, BLUMENTHAL, AND THEIR FRIENDS PUSHED THE BIGGEST POLITICAL FRAUD OF OUR TIME. THEY CALLED TRUMP A PUPPET. IT WAS A LIE. IT WAS PROVEN FALSE. THEY NEVER APOLOGIZED.
“We were interfered with by the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax,” Trump complained.
BOB: HE’S RIGHT. IT WAS A HOAX. IT POISONED U.S.-RUSSIA RELATIONS FOR YEARS. BUT NOTICE BLUMENTHAL’S TRICK: HE MENTIONS IT ONLY TO MOCK TRUMP — NEVER TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS OWN ROLE IN PROMOTING THE FRAUD. THAT’S GASLIGHTING OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.
Trump fled from the stage.
BOB: FALSE. HE WALKED OFF. BUT “FLED” FITS THE CARTOON SCRIPT. JOURNALISM? NO. PROPAGANDA? YES.
Sean Hannity, Trump’s lapdog…
BOB: CHEAP SHOT. HANNITY HAS ACCESS, BLUMENTHAL DOESN’T. THIS IS ENVY DRESSED UP AS ANALYSIS.
The wreckage of Trump’s attempt at diplomacy.
BOB: CLASSIC. CALL PEACE TALKS “WRECKAGE.” ROOT FOR FAILURE, EVEN IF IT MEANS MORE DEAD UKRAINIANS. THIS IS WHAT TDS DOES TO PEOPLE.
The Techniques of TDS Media
Frame First, Facts Never. Lead with sneers like “absurd,” “chaos,” or “melted.”
Mind Reading. Assign Trump imaginary motives, moods, and fears. Always negative.
Character Smears. Reduce allies to caricatures (“real estate operator”).
Anonymous Echo. Quote “media reports” or “unnamed officials” to launder gossip.
Cartoon Language. Trump doesn’t leave, he “flees.” He doesn’t negotiate, he “prostrates.”
Projection. Accuse Trump of chaos while Biden-era foreign policy was literal chaos.
The Russia Hoax Two-Step. Mention it only to smear Trump — never admit it was disproven, never admit your own complicity. This is Blumenthal’s specialty.
The Payoff. End with the moral: Trump is selfish, vain, and dangerous. Same every time.
The Bottom Line
Blumenthal’s Guardian piece isn’t reporting. It’s narrative theater — sneers, hoax-recycling, and mind-reading dressed up as journalism. The irony? While hacks like Blumenthal churn out bitter fairy tales, Trump is actually trying to negotiate peace and end bloodshed.
Blumenthal and the Guardian would rather the killing go on than let Trump notch a victory for peace. That’s how deep their TDS runs.
And that, right there, is the real chaos.
