We can only speculate on how or if K’s views on Trump would have morphed over the years. We lost a good one. A generational voice. You know who started getting more airtime after he passed? VDH. That’s how I recall it. It took Victor a while to get accustomed to the part.
I was a great admirer of Krauthammer. At age 15 I suffered a similar accident to the one Krauthammer did in his early 20’s that paralyzed hiim. Only by shear guts and determination was he able to go on through med school and enter the only specialty he could with his handicap.
I was luckier than Charles, I came out nearly totally neurologically intact. The residual did not hold me back.
I clearly remember his antipathy for Trump, especially his behavior. I could also recognize the respect he had for Trump’s abilities.
My future led me to the pinnacle of military medicine and health care. I had to pick people for senior leadership positions. I watched Krauthammer and learned from him. Pick the best person for the job based on ability to do it, not on their gender, ethnicity or political loyalty.
