Note:
For nearly a decade, we were told to follow the smoke. That Trump was a Russian asset. That the Steele Dossier had teeth. That our intelligence community was simply doing its job. But what if the real story—the one hiding in plain sight—was that the fix was in from the start?
This week, Sen. Chuck Grassley released a declassified annex from the Durham investigation. It’s short. It’s dry. And it’s devastating. Because tucked in those few bureaucratic pages is the closest thing we’ve seen to a signed confession: that the Clinton campaign greenlit a smear, the CIA and FBI knew it, and the President of the United States was briefed—and no one stopped it.
This isn’t about hindsight. It’s about foreknowledge.
Read the essay below. Then ask yourself: if a political party used the national security state to kneecap their opponent, and the press buried it, what would we call that?
We’d call it what it was: a bloodless coup attempt.
And now, they’ve left the receipts.
Confession by Annex: The Durham File That Should’ve Set Washington on Fire
By Jim Reynolds
What do you call it when a major political campaign greenlights a smear operation, the intelligence community finds out, the president is briefed, and everyone involved watches it unfold like it’s the Macy’s parade? In D.C., they call it a classified annex. Now declassified, thanks to Sen. Chuck Grassley, it deserves a new name: Exhibit A in America’s Elite Protection Racket.
The Setup: Brennan’s Quiet Delivery
According to the Durham annex, in July 2016, CIA Director John Brennan delivered a briefing to then-President Barack Obama, FBI Director James Comey, and other senior officials. The topic? Fresh intel suggesting that Hillary Clinton had approved a plan to stir up a scandal tying Donald Trump to Russia, in order to distract from her email debacle. Brennan didn’t whistleblow. He didn’t pull the emergency brake. He told them. And then… nothing.
Crossfire, Steele, and the Magic Act
Despite the heads-up, the FBI forged ahead with Crossfire Hurricane, chasing the same Russian-collusion fairy tale. They embraced the Steele Dossier, even though by 2017 they knew it was junk—double-sourced by hearsay, peddled through political opposition, and, yes, probably Russian disinformation itself. The annex confirms they knew the origin story was cooked. But like bad magicians committed to the bit, they never broke character.
Who Is Named and How
· Hillary Clinton is named as the originator of the plan to vilify Trump by tying him to Russia.
· John Brennan is cited as the one who briefed the president and senior security officials.
· Barack Obama is documented as receiving the briefing and taking no public action.
· James Comey, as FBI Director, is briefed and proceeds with Crossfire Hurricane anyway.
· The CIA and FBI are shown as active enablers, not passive recipients.
· Other names alluded to in the chain of briefings include Susan Rice, Denis McDonough, and James Clapper, though they aren’t called out in detail.
What the Annex Proves
· They all knew Hillary’s Russia hoax was a campaign ploy.
· They pursued it anyway—with full institutional muscle.
· They never informed the public, even post-election.
· They never paused to wonder if weaponizing state power against a political rival might be, you know, evil.
What It Doesn’t Say (But Screams Anyway)
· There was no guardrail. No whistleblower. No adult supervision.
· The Russia narrative wasn’t believed—it was deployed.
· The Steele Dossier wasn’t intelligence—it was insurance.
· And the institutions weren’t fooled—they were participants.
Bob’s Take: "The gun wasn’t smoking. It was hosting a BBQ."
The Aftermath: Still No Reckoning
Here we are, nine years later. Durham confirms the fraud. Grassley drops the declassified receipts. And the media? Barely flinches. No anchor opens with: "Breaking: President, CIA, FBI All Knew Russia Hoax Was a Campaign Trick." No Sunday panel says, "Maybe Trump wasn’t the problem."
Because the problem isn’t just what happened. It’s who got away with it.
So let’s call this what it is: a bloodless coup attempt that worked—until it didn’t. And now, the paper trail is public.
Final Word:
This annex isn’t new news. It’s concrete confirmation of the worst-kept secret in Washington: the 2016 election was tampered with—just not by Moscow. The real meddlers wore badges, held clearances, and got promotions.
Leans: Burn it all. Start with the Steele section.
