Early Days, Big Plans - And a Small Ask
Zero to fifty in a week ain’t bad — but we are ready for liftoff
Subject: Early Days, Big Plans – And a Small Ask
Hello friends,
First—thank you for being part of this. We’re at the beginning of something that feels like a new chapter for me—and maybe for a few of you, too.
You’ll notice over the next couple of weeks that I’ll be sending out a few more articles than usual. That’s intentional. I have about 50 completed essays waiting in the wings, and I want to build out the library so new subscribers can see the full scope of the work. Don’t worry—I’ll pace it so your inbox doesn’t look like it lost a bet.
A bit about me, for those who don’t know:
I’ve worn a few hats—U.S. Forest Service Hotshot crew member, fruit picker in the San Joaquin Valley, furniture delivery guy, high school band and choir director, software engineer at some companies you’ve definitely heard of, and always... a writer.
What I do now is apply the same rigor I used in engineering to the way I write about politics and culture.
I chase patterns.
I call out the obvious that others miss.
And I try to do it with clarity, speed, and a little humor where it fits.
If you’re enjoying the work so far, here’s my only ask:
Send this to 10 people who you think would like it, too.
Friends. Family. Co-workers. That uncle who always rants at Thanksgiving.
As long as he is not the blind Al Pacino character in “Scent of a Woman”!
I’ll do my best to make you proud you hit that forward button.
Thanks again for being in early.
Best,
Jim Reynolds
