🧠 Shooter’s Manifesto Summary
By Jim Reynolds | www.reynolds.com
Here is what I learned from the manifesto written by the Minneapolis shooter.
Robin Westman, 23, carried out the attack on Annunciation Catholic School on August 27, 2025. Investigators recovered a multi-page journal combining handwritten English and Cyrillic text, along with two YouTube videos and inscriptions on firearms.
🔥 Psychological Despair & Gender Conflict
Westman’s writings are defined by resignation and regret:
“I am tired of being trans. I wish I never brain‑washed myself.”
“I don’t want to dress girly all the time… I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”
“I regret being trans… I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today.”
🎯 Obsession with Infamy & Supremacy
The shooter’s videos show weapons labeled with mass slayers’ names (Adam Lanza, Anders Breivik, Breenton Tarrant, etc.) and anti-Semitic slogans like “6 million wasn’t enough,” “kill Donald Trump,” and “filthy Zionist Jews.”
“I have had thoughts of mass murder for a long time… I’ve been entranced into the world of mass shooters.”
📐 Tactical Planning & Target Selection
Writings included church layouts, attack timing (school Mass), predatory scouting, and a chilling statement:
“Unlike the police and good guys, I can fire indiscriminately and just have fun.”
“I want to be the scary horrible monster standing over those powerless kids.”
Iterations drawn in Cyrillic coded script—likely used to evade detection and preserve privacy for radical notes.
✍️ Family Address & Self-Contradiction
In a letter addressed “to my family and friends”, Westman apologized:
“I don’t expect forgiveness… I do apologize for the effects my actions will have on your lives.”
“…I am very conflicted… I am not well… I can’t seem to stop myself. I am severely depressed… I’ve lost all hope.”
Jarring contrast emerges between love/confession and premeditated violence.
🕵️ Why Cyrillic?
Many entries—including tactical notes and layout sketches—were written in Cyrillic or mixed Russian‑English.
Possible reasons:
Concealment from casual readers or camera detection
Personal affinity for code-like script
No known ties to the Muslim community in Minneapolis have been found. The Cyrillic use does not indicate affiliation with Slavic or Muslim groups.
⚖ Classification
The FBI is treating the assault as domestic terrorism and a hate crime against Christians, citing ideological hostility (anti‑Christian and antisemitic messaging) and venue choice (Catholic school Mass).

🎯 Bottom Line
Westman’s journal was not a cry for help—it was a roadmap of hatred, identity despair, and ideological violence. The use of Cyrillic was methodical, not symbolic of cultural allegiance. There is no evidence of any connection to or support from Minneapolis’s Muslim community. Ignoring or sanitizing this reality obscures the truth—and dishonors the memory of the victims.
