Another reader suggested that the backpack contained a body bag. That sounds fairly ominous and controversial — but makes sense given what we now know. Blood at the door and nowhere else. The truth is that we know nothing. We can only speculate. But there was that backpack. And it was full of something.
Someone, landscaper, UPS or FEDEX delivery guy who has had an opportunity to converse with Nancy and get to know her a bit (she looks like the friendly sort) and during conversation, learned who her daughter is talked about it at a family gathering or possibly in front of some guys at a bar (this person is probably completely innocent, all he did was talk about her) and SOMEONE who overheard him decided there was easy money to get. It isn’t someone who is close to her, but someone who overheard who she was and where she lived. Sadly, something went wrong with the abduction and she has probably not survived.
Yep--an amateur house robbery that failed with the mistake covered up. No grand plan--just lawlessness executed with incompetence. And the local law enforcement effort no better.
So, the only question remaining: how was the body disposed of?
What we don’t know is why she would open the door at 2AM?
